Two different companies on one shipment
An auto transport carrier owns or operates the truck and holds the cargo insurance on the load. An auto transport broker does not haul the car. The broker quotes the lane, finds a carrier that can take the vehicle, and stays on the file while you approve dispatch.

What the carrier does

Why this distinction matters
If a website says “our trucks” and then assigns a third-party hauler, you only find out at pickup. If something happens on the road, the cargo claim runs through the carrier’s policy, not a slogan on a landing page. We would rather say “brokerage” up front than pretend we own a national fleet.
You still get one quote and one process. You do not shop ten dispatch boards yourself. You also do not sign a blank “we will find someone” ticket without seeing who is actually coming.
How to check either party
Ask for the broker’s FMCSA authority. Ask for the assigned carrier’s legal name, MC or USDOT number, and cargo certificate before you approve. If a company will not name the hauler until the car is already on the trailer, that is a reason to pause — not a reason to pay faster.

Broker vs carrier on price
The Direct Quote is the customer number for that ZIP pair and vehicle. It is not a carrier bid you are supposed to undercut in a chat box. If no carrier can take the job at that number, we say so. We do not invent a dispatch date to win the click.
