A Route Pool is shared capacity on a lane Bigfella has actually listed. It is not a discount button for every ZIP pair.
A Route Pool groups compatible vehicles on a planned multi-car run that Bigfella has listed. The point is shared capacity on that lane, which can price differently from dispatching a one-off truck for a single car. You can join only when the pool is listed and still open. If you do not see it, it is not available, and the Direct Quote is the correct path. Popular cities do not create a pool by themselves.

What a pool is for
Some lanes have enough cars moving the same direction that grouping them is more sensible than pretending each one is a unique expedition. A pool is that grouping, with a listing you can read. It becomes relevant when your origin, destination, vehicle, and dates fit a listing that is open now. It is irrelevant when the listing is absent, full, or for a different vehicle type.

How joining works
Find an open listing
If the pool is not published as open, do not assume it exists. Check the board rather than a blog post from last season.
Match the vehicle and the dates
A pool for a standard running car is not automatically a pool for an inoperable dually or an enclosed-only exotic. Read the listing.
Compare it with a Direct Quote
You can still price the one-off shipment. A pool is an option, not a requirement. The quote article explains the one-off number.
Join only if you can live with the run
Shared capacity means the truck is planned around more than your driveway. Windows are still windows.
Review the carrier
Joining does not skip the carrier check or your approval. Insurance figures on a listing belong to that listing. Do not copy them onto a different pool.
If plans change, say so early
A pool that other customers are counting on is a bad place to disappear. Cancellation terms still follow the booking agreement, including the difference between before and after a carrier is assigned.

Examples that are listings, not promises
Example of where to look, not a statement that a pool is open today. Los Angeles to Houston and Miami to Houston are lanes with route guides and, at times, pool listings. The Los Angeles to Houston route guide is published at about 1,550 miles, with a typical transit range of 4–6 days. That range is planning guidance from the mileage band. It is not a pickup date or a delivery date. Open that guide and Miami to Houston for the corridor, then check the pool board for a live listing. If the board does not show it, the pool is not something this article can promise.

Frequently asked questions
Is every route a Route Pool?
No. Pools exist only where Bigfella has published an open listing. Everything else is a Direct Quote. A busy corridor can still have zero pools this week. The route guide explains the roads either way. Do not email asking to “apply the pool discount” to a lane that is not listed. There is nothing to apply.
Does joining a pool skip carrier approval?
No. You still review the carrier and the terms before the car moves, and Bigfella still checks authority and cargo insurance before dispatch. A pool is a way of grouping capacity and price. It is not a lower safety standard. If the listing names a carrier or an insurance amount, that information belongs to the listing in front of you.
Will a pool be cheaper than a quote?
Sometimes the listed pool price is the better fit, and sometimes the one-off quote is. You can compare them only when a pool is actually open for your vehicle. This page will not claim a percentage savings. Savings language without a live listing is advertising, not a number you can budget. Open the board and read the current card.
Who can put a vehicle in a pool?
A customer whose pickup, delivery, dates, and vehicle match the open listing. Carriers participate according to that pool’s arrangement, not because every carrier in the country is enrolled. An inoperable, oversized, or enclosed-only vehicle may not fit a pool built for standard running cars. The listing is the rule.
What if the pool does not fill?
Then it may not run on the plan you hoped for. A listing is an offer of shared capacity, not a promise that other customers will appear. Ask what happens to your booking if the pool does not operate, and do not turn down every other option until you know. Bigfella can still look at a Direct Quote for the same car.
Are pool shipments inspected differently?
No. Pickup and delivery still use a condition record, and personal belongings still should not be in the car. Shared capacity does not mean a looser walkaround. Read the preparation and insurance articles. The fact that several cars share a trailer is normal in auto transport, pool or not.
