Double booking means two brokers (or a broker and a carrier site) both think they have your car. Two drivers can show up. Neither load is cleaner for it. The car can sit while everyone argues about who actually has the order.
How it usually happens
Someone gets three quotes, books the cheapest, then also books a second company “just in case.” Or they book on a listing site and with a broker for the same dates. When the first truck is assigned, the second order is still live.
